Senior Tech Class is a free, weekly digital-literacy program presented by Clayton Cortez Studios and held at the University of Detroit Mercy — an hour a week walking seniors through Zoom, AI tools, QR codes and online-reputation basics, with guest speakers from local police departments and community leaders.
The Week 1 session, an introduction to Zoom, is a good snapshot of the format: familiarize a room of seniors with a tool most of them had only heard about, cover real etiquette (quiet room, good lighting, staying focused), and connect it back to something bigger — reducing social isolation and keeping people in touch with family, classes and healthcare providers from home.
Clayton Cortez leads the flagship sessions, and I've taught a number of Senior Tech Class sessions myself as part of the wider program — including a Week 7 session on QR codes — on top of shooting and cutting the video coverage that documents and promotes the series. Local channel 7 picked up the program too.
